Recently, the motivation for an energy saving operation of water treatment plants has been growing because of the motivation of the cost and energy saving. Operation improvement should be done without deterioration of a quality of treated water; therefore, the necessity of the co-simulation of biochemical process and mechanical components has increased.
This paper reports the results of co-simulation of biological process simulator, SUMO, and Modelica. Biological treatment process and mechanical system were simulated by SUMO and Modelica, respectively. Dynamic simulation was conducted to evaluate the influence of control parameter settings on biological process and energy consumption.
