Many fluids used today for different applications show a non-Newtonian behavior. In order to simulate this behavior; many different approaches exist but are not fully implemented in a simulation program. One of the problems with these kinds of simulations is the lack of compatibility with existing models. This makes the modeling very time consuming. In this paper; a simple approach is shown that provides a general set of equations which can be used to model both Newtonian as well as non-Newtonian behavior of fluids in the same model in Modelica. Since the implementation is in base models; existing components can easily be used to simulate non Newtonian fluids without sacrificing simulation times.
