The lecture will focus on the fact that there is an urgent need for new types of visualization tools that can help the user to navigate in the flood of data. There is a need for a research agenda that focuses on the development of the next generation of medical acquisition and visualization tools; emphasizing the fact that these tools must be based on medical user requirement and workflow studies as well as on new technical developments.
